Guernsey Gymnastics Centre was established within the Indoor Sports Centre in April 2015. Since that time the sport has grown hugely and today we have an extremely busy timetable that is being delivered by our team, of expert coaches and helpers led by Head Coach, Andy Buckley. The club is affiliated to British Gymnastics, the sports U.K governing body.

Andrew Buckley - Director of Coaching
Andy originates from Manchester and has been coaching gymnastics for the past 22+ years, and has been in the sport the past 32+ years starting as a gymnast himself. He has coached all levels of gymnastics from preschool through to International, including being the National coach for the XIX Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India 2010 as part of Team Isle of Man and having 3 of his gymnasts represent at the Youth Commonwealth Games 2011. Over the years Andy has coached all over the globe from the little island of Malta to the vast country of Canada.
While out coaching in Canada for just over 3 years Andy managed to gain his gymnast a place on the Canadian National Aspire Olympic 2020 to 2024 programme and achieve 2 National Apparatus Champions on Vault. Andy aims for every member to have the best gymnastics experience they can, and to have future representation at Island games and Commonwealth games for Team Guernsey.
My name is Dewi Scheijbeler, I am originally from Holland. I moved to Guernsey for love. I've been very fortunate to find a job here as a gymnastic coach because that has always been my passion. I'm a former gymnast myself and have competed at national level in Holland.
I completed my level 1 training last year and I hope to complete my level 2 course in May. Before I moved to Guernsey I worked as a primary school teacher. My aim is to teach new skills but most of all to make sure the children have a good time.
I loved Gymnastics as a child and teenager and it’s great to give something back to a sport by being involved with coaching. Olga Korbut and Nadia Comaneci were my gymnast idols as I grew up and they still are! I am qualified as Level 1 General Gymnastic Coach and from the end of January 2018 will be qualified in Level 1 Pre school Gymnastics and will have completed level 2 pre school Gymnastics during July.
Joanna (Jo) Wheatley started studying performing arts in 2008. Jo completed a BTEC national diploma in PA in 2011 and went on to complete a degree in choreography and dance in 2015. Jo joined Guernsey Gymnastics in April 2016 and looks to further develop her skills in gymnastics to partner with choreography and dance.
I’m Ceejay and I have done trampolining for 10 years. I qualified as a level 1 trampoline coach in 2017. I am now also qualified as a Level 1 coach in Woman’s Artistic Gymnastics! I enjoy gymnastics as it is a varied sport so everybody can be good at something!
Ewan started dancing at the age of 3 and became a Royal Ballet Junior associate at the age of 9. He now trains at The Academy of Dance and studies both Ballet, Modern, Greek and Tap. He has been extremely successful in competitions and has represented Guernsey on numerous occasions in the Dance World Cup. More recently he attained the highest mark of the Guernsey Dance World Cup qualifiers with a modern piece he choreographed himself.
He enjoys attending summer intensives in the UK where he trains in both dance and Gymnastics. Ewan enjoys choreographing and hopes to inspire some of the young gymnasts of today.

Kath has been involved in local sport for over 50 years. As a badminton player she has won several medals at island games level both in the team and individual events. She is a level 2 badminton coach and a county umpire. She was employed for 10 years by the Guernsey Sports Commission as a sports development officer before being head hunted by the Guernsey College of FE to teach sports development and safeguarding and protecting children and young people to students on the BTEC level 3 sports courses.
Kath is the secretary of the Guernsey Island Games Association and is also a member of the Sports Management Team for the Guernsey 2021 Nat West International Island Games, which will be responsible for delivering the sports events in 2021.
Kath is the Welfare Officer for both the Guernsey Gymnastics Centre and the Indoor Sports Centre and can be contacted on either email@example.com or 07781 421536.
Helene works alongside Kath in the office dealing with all administration enquiries. Whilst sport has always played a big part in my life, playing netball for the Island during my school years, along with playing badminton in the first County team, I'm now much happier sat on the sidelines! I have two boys and a husband who all play a variety of sports so my spare time is generally taken up supporting them in their activities.
